FACT MAG x DJ SHIFTEE X TT THE ARTIST X UNiiQU3 DOPE GIRLS REMIX

Earlier this year, Hot Mom impresario DJ Shiftee released ‘Dope Girls’, a collaborative track with TT the Artist. To salute its female empowerment genesis, the two have teamed up to release a remix EP featuring all women producers.

Featuring contributions from Gun$ Garcia, LA’s Ducky and more, a track from the EP will drop as a one-off each week until the whole project is available next month. The first release comes from Jersey Club luminary and FACT favoriteUNiiQU3, whose take on ‘Dope Girls’ you can hear below.

“For ‘Dope Girls’, a song about girl power, TT and I wanted the remix package to celebrate amazing female producers,” Shiftee tells FACT.

NEW MUSIC TT THE ARTIST X DAI BURGER X SCHWARZ X JEREMIAH MEECE X NINA POP RECORDS "COOKIN"

Nina Pop is proud to present the 12th installment of our catalog, "Cookin" from TT The Artist and Dai Burger on 4/20 2016, . The track, expertly produced by Nina Pop CEO Schwarz & Chicago based DJ/Producer Jeremiah Meece, serves up classic hip hop bravado and motivation over a sleek beat that switches from chopped and screwed-molasses slow to double time-club tempo and back without ever disrupting the flow. "Cookin" could fit easily into a wide variety of DJs sets, certainly not out of place in a traditional hip hop set but also in align with cutting-edge club music.

BALTIMORE SUN X TT THE ARTIST

Growing up in a strict household in the suburbs of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Tedra Wilson could only wear dresses that fell below her knee. Never pants.

Secular music was limited to Disney soundtracks, at most. Nearly every day, she and her three siblings spent hours praying at the local Pentecostal church with their mother and father.

But Wilson couldn't be monitored every moment, and when she had one to herself, she sat by her radio, studying the music her church could never support: rap.

"I remember tape-recording one of Foxy Brown's songs, and I would write it word for word," Wilson, 31, said seated inside a Station North cafe recently. "I would memorize those raps. Eventually, when I got to high school, I started doing my own."

Years later, Wilson is known as TT the Artist, the Baltimore-based singer/rapper/producer meshing many genres and sounds — Baltimore club, Miami bass, electronic dance music and party-rap to name a few — with infectiously energetic results. Through collaborations local and international, she has gained admirers without a record label, and with the release of her debut album this month, Wilson hopes this is the year she breaks through to her widest audience yet.

"I got into this mode where now I'm just really focusing on my sound," said Wilson, who performs Saturday at Baltimore Soundstage. "You have to get to the point where you just develop who you are and let people buy into who you are."

STREAM TT THE ARTIST ART ROYALTY ABSTRACT

Regional club music, as a rule, doesn't often permeate the mainstream. Baltimore in particular is a city chock-full of talent that rarely graces radio airwaves aside from its own 92Q. Of late, however, the city's’ signature kicks, claps, and breaks have been shining all the way into mainstream - thanks, in part, to its newly crowned club queen, TT The Artist. TT has been a mainstay in the Space is the Place stable ever since our second release in 2014 with Normaling’s “Low Drop feat. Rye Rye & TT The Artist”.

Now, after touring Europe, releasing her first vinyl record and collabing with the likes of Diplo, Hervé, Swick, Sam Binga & Branko, the queen has partnered with Space is the Place Records to bring you Art Royalty Abstract, a collection of remixes of TT’s Art Royalty.

Why remix tracks that are already club friendly, you ask? Well, every producer worth their weight in percussion samples has been bugging us for the opportunity to remix TT’s fiery vocals. So we partnered with some of our favorites amongst them to create a unique collection of remixes lightly seasoned with uncharacteristic techno and sprinkled with house beats here and there to offer you a brand-new take on the original Art Royalty tracks. From LA’s Ana Sia to Chicago’s Jeremiah Meece to Paris’ Big Dope P to Belgium’s Jabo and London’s Alfie Casanova, Abstract offers a global interpretation of Baltimore’s reigning Club Queen.

Space is the Place is proud to present this collection of bumps, grinds, kicks, claps and fierce lyrical fire from TT The Artist and our squad of talented producers.

SHIFTEE X TT THE ARTIST X THUMP PREMIERE "DOPE GIRLS"

NYC turntablist Shiftee recently linked up with Baltimore rapper TT the Artist on a track called "Dope Girls," a throwback anthem that celebrates independent women who keep it fresh. "Keisha? She a dope girl! Lisa? She a dope girl! Roxanne? She a dope girl! TT? She a dope girl, dope girl!" goes the song's catchy chorus, which also features live scratching and back-up vocals sung by students at an all-girls middle school in the Bronx.

Following the release of TT the Artist‘s acclaimed Art Royalty record exactly one year ago, the Baltimore boss lady has linked up with boutique East Coast imprint, Space Is The Place, for a staggering 15-track remix LP titled Art Royalty Abstract. Due out this Friday, Art Royalty Abstract gave remixers all over the world a chance to play around with TT the Artist’s sought after vocals; one of whom was Los Angeles-based Ana Sia whose club-ready rework of “Lavish” pays a nice homage to TT’s Bmore roots while showing off some West Coast influence. Here’s what each of the ladies had to say about it —

RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY X ASTROLITH X TT THE ARTIST "PUSSY ATE" REMIX

As he gears up to release a collection of remixes of Baltimore club diva TT the Artist on his Space Is the Place label, RBMA alumnus Astrolith steps up to the plate himself for an alternate take on “Pussy Ate.” The no-holds-barred (panty) party anthem receives a notable low-end boost from the NYC-based producer, before launching off into more intergalactic territories with the help of dreamy synth pads.

Baltimore's party-starting, good at giving back MC, TT the Artist bounces back into view today with the first cut from her forthcoming debut album, Queen of the Beat, produced by Miami-based producer Snappy Jit (a man who manipulates influences ranging from juke, soca, calypso, and Miami bass). So as you might imagine, before you even press play on this banger, premiering below, this song is the fire emoji in sonic form—which bodes well for her imminent album. As TT puts it: "Queen of the Beat is much like a chef’s masterpiece: all of the ingredients are artfully blended."
