NOISEY X TT THE ARTIST

She's collaborated with Diplo, been sampled by JLo, but this Bmore-based artist will continue to do it DIY and give back.

Imagine Missy Elliott, Diplo, and Big Freedia got together one night and had a love child. That amazing, sonically advanced human would be grow up to be TT the Artist. Originally from Fort Lauderdale, TT a.k.a. Tedra Wilson, began exploring art through different outlets like filmmaking, design, and visual art in earnest when she moves to Baltimore and began her studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art. From there TT began to involve herself into the B-more club and dance culture, settling in and soon establishing herself in the city's DIY arts community.

FADER PREMIERE X ASTROLITH X TT THE ARTIST X CAKES DA KILLA X SPANKROCK X VINCE CLARKE

When multiple artists collaborate for a track, it can sometimes lead to sonic madness. However, on Brooklyn producer Astrolith's new single "Carry On," the four artists he recruited came up with the perfect recipe. In anticipation of his forthcoming EP Car Jam, Astrolith collaborated with Depeche Mode's own Vince Clarke to create an intoxicating beat that lives somewhere in between synthpop and R&B. The two producers' sounds swirl like water and sand, creating a uplifting tide that makes space for the three guest MCs: New Jersey rapper Cakes Da Killa, Baltimore club artist TT The Artist, and the South's own Spank Rock. "Carry On" is an anthem for those living their best life in their real life, rather than just on social media. As TT The Artist jokes, 'bout to take a vacay and hashtag a selfie.

FADER PREMIERE X TT THE ARTIST QUEEN OF THE BEAT DEBUT ALBUM

Don't call me a bitch, you can call me a queenTT The Artistmagnificently asserts on the third track of her debut album Queen Of The Beat. Premiering on The FADER below, the LP has 22 songs, each capturing a different facet of the Fort Lauderdale-raised, Baltimore-based artist's creative persona. The beats themselves range from Baltimore club to upbeat hip-hop, and bounce to EDM, and the production credits include longtime collaborator Mighty MarkSchwarz, and Shiftee. Such powerful backing tracks allow TT to showcase her vocal flexibility. Songs like "Zodiac Lover" and "Touch Myself" underscore her sweet croon, and others, such as "Bass Drop Bigger" and "Stop Drop & Roll," emphasize her playfully energetic flow. Queen Of The Beat is a colorful amalgamation of pop, hip-hop, and everything in between, with distinct style and skill to spare.
