TT the Artist is a force. She’s a multigenre rapper, covering hip-hop, Baltimore club, and Miami bass. She’s queer, and though she doesn’t like labels, she understands their importance. And she’s here as a leader to help all queer women of colour break into the industry.

TT is in town performing at The Rude Collective’s second anniversary, a party by and for queers of colour. When I explain that Black queers from all over the diaspora will be there, she says, “That sounds beautiful. I can’t wait.”

ID FEATURE STORY X TT The Artist Is The Baltimore Club Queen Bringing Women To The Front!

Whether she's running a feminist record label or painting 'Black pop art,' TT won't be confined to one discipline.

TT the Artist strides on-stage at Warehouse on Watts in Philadelphia wearing a Melody Ehsani x Lauryn Hill suit and an enormous gold chain that swamps her petite frame. She looks like she’s done this a hundred times – and she has, but this one feels special. The club queen recently started splitting time between Los Angeles and Baltimore, but she’s back on the East Coast to perform at Red Bull Music Presents: United States of Bass, with other sub-loving trail-blazers from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New Jersey.

DAILY BEAT X TT THE ARTIST X NYC BASS COLLECTIVE

oday, the official music video for “Make it Clap” by Monikkr and Beat Kitty featuring TT The Artist, has been released to the public. The video was directed by Bridget Moriarty of the collective production company called The Good People of NYC, produced by Anthony Fonseca & Amanda Bociek of NYC Bass Collective and shot by DP Blaine Dunkley. This dark yet seductive video compliments the booty bass track in such a way that leaves the viewer feeling like they just awoke from a trippy nightmare.

The video begins with the squad gathering around TT in an eerie basement for a ouija board séance that quickly turns into one of the members becoming possessed by a sexy, glow in the dark Aztec warrior accompanied by a crew of alluring dancers. From there, it can’t help but turn into a blacklight, booty-clapping party. Choreographer Robert McBay perfectly captures the essence of the video with his perfected dance moves.

The amount of hard work, energy, and talent that was put into producing this was incredible. It truly goes to show what can be done with little to no budget and a handful of badass artists willing to create something together in the name of fun and love,” Beat Kitty.
