THUMP x MOLLY HOUSE RECORDS X TT THE ARTIST x SIR JOQ x DAVOMAKESBEATS x KITTY KLAP PREMIERE

Through their Swagger Like Us parties, Bay Area duo davOmakesbeats and Kelly Lovemonster have been helping maintain San Francisco's queer nightlife scene. Looking to give more exposure to their LGBTQ talent beyond the club, davOmakesbeats and Lovemonster have teamed up once more for a new venture, Molly House Records.

On Friday, May 5, Molly House is releasing a new EP, Molly House Volume 1, which features artists including AH-MER-AH-SU, Saturn Rising, Bbymutha, DDM, and Futurehood's Mister Wallace and Kaycee Ortiz. Today, they're sharing a new single off the record, "Kitty Klap" featuring Baltimore scene stalwart TT The Artist and San Francisco choreographer Sir Joq of Vogue & Tone. Over a whiplash-inducing beat (courtesy of davOmakesbeats), TT the Artist delivers sharp but sassy raps followed by a vogue-inspired verse from JoQ.

Sir JoQ tells THUMP over email, "I was excited and nervous when I was asked to be apart of 'Kitty Klap.' I knew that my verse had to be sickening, especially when I found out that TT The Artist was going to be on the track as well. I wanted to bring vogue elements into my lyrics and was pumped that davOmakesbeats was all about it! I'm pretty slick with my words and for some reason I like talking about trade. I think 'Kitty Klap' is going to be a summer banger, and I can't wait to see everyone slay the dancefloor to it."

MAGNETIC MAGAZINE X DDOTS X TT THE ARTIST X BAM BAM PREMIERE

D-DOTS is still a relatively new name in the game, but with that, he's quickly caught the eyes and ears of some serious music heavyweights. After his debut EP, he was picked up by turntable legend DJ Shiftee and placed on his label Hot Mom USA, and his subsequent work has seen the support of DiploAnna Lunoe, and Baauer, among others.

Today we see the artist teaming up with TT the Artist for his latest track "Bam Bam" and we're betting this is about to become a secret weapon of choice for those attending festivals and partying this festival season. The high energy nature of the song, fueled by TT the Artist's fast paced lyrics and D-DOTS' equally manic production style, brings a world of influences together to sound completely original.

LANDR x TT THE ARTIST INTERVIEW

During her lunch breaks in high school, Tedra Wilson started rapping with another girlfriend. “I was inspired by how much respect she would get through using her voice and literally battling all the boys with classic rhymes and freestyles. That is when I realized I wanted to rap.” The early foundations for TT the Artist were laid.

Throughout her years at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Tedra spent her time hosting live shows and events. After a two year adventure in New York City, she finally settled for Baltimore, the city where she’s been developing her unique sound.

TT the Artist is known for her refreshing attitude, fierce rapping style and powerful confidence. Her sound is heavily influenced by Baltimore club, a breakbeat musical genre that gets a club lit at sky high BPMs. Add Miami bass, hip-hop, 90’s dance, R&B and EDM into the mix and you’ve got TT the Artist. Her art school background shines through the artistic direction on all her releases: bold colors and flawless style.

After several successful EPs, including Queen of the Beat (2016) and Art Royalty (2015) and collaborations with Diplo and Mighty Mark, TT the Artist is exploring a new horizon: beat making.

On Bxrthday—her newest release premiered on Noisey—TT the Artist wrote all the songs and also produced them. Dip into the making-of process of the EP and TT’s musical universe.

NOISEY PREMIERE X TT THE ARTIST BXRTHDAY EP

Screen Shot 2017-03-01 at 1.05.32 PM.png

The club artist uses sounds from Baltimore and Jersey for a fun-filled project.

With the release of her debut album Queen of the Beat last year, TT The Artist has the biggest year of her career. The self-proclaimed new Baltimore Club Queen's 2015 tracks "Lavish" and "Thug it Out" appeared on HBO's hit show Insecure. "Dance to My Beat," a collaboration with French producer Hervè, appeared in an NBA commercial. TT has no plans of letting that momentum fade for 2017, either.

OPEN LETTER FROM TT The Artist

After self funding my music video tour across the country. I see that if I really set out to do something and put the energy out into the universe...God will align the stars. This was no easy tasks and I poured ever bit of my resources into it. I came out strong and more inspired than ever to press forward with my other creative endeavors that have been in the incubator.

My next tasks will be to complete a film I set out to do 6 years ago #DarkCity: Beneath The Beat the rebirth stay tune. Working hard to put Baltimore club culture narrative on the big screen. I have partnered up with an amazing film crew and it's going down in the 410.

If you know of any grants or corporate companies that support funding for films that highlight the arts, women or black filmmakers please drop me an email ttsart@gmail.com or dm me.

Much love to all the people who supported this start up project 6 years ago. I wanted to come back and do Baltimore right and show the world the beauty beneath the beat from this bubbling city!

Stay tune.

BALTIMORE MAGAZINE X TT THE ARTIST MUSIC REVIEWS 2017

Screen Shot 2017-01-11 at 12.52.21 PM.png

TT The Artist

Queen of the Beat (self-released)

The Queen Bee of Baltimore party music has been blowing up, from her 2015 “Lavish” track being featured on HBO’s new series, Insecure, to her “F Trump” single with DJ Mighty Mark making it to the top of Spotify’s United States Viral 50 (beating out The Weeknd!). Now, after two strong releases and a handful of infectious hits, the 32-year-old MICA alum has dropped her aptly named debut. Across 22 tracks, she lays an addictive foundation of breakneck Bmore Club beats, heavy hip-hop bass, and hints of EDM and house, then slays with fierce lyrics ranging from witty, energetic spits to thoughtful ruminations. Simply put, TT is pure fire, and on this robust record, she establishes herself as an artist to notice on the national stage. Cover art by Nicole Fallek

MASS APPEAL X TT THE ARTIST X SNAPPY JIT X THUNDERBIRD JUICEBOX X MIGHTY MARK X DIG BALTIMORE CLUB REMIX

While the world is getting caught up in the #MannequinChallenge, Baltimore is busy having a party all to itself. Lucky for the rest of us, TT The Artist is sharing a part of that function with her track “Dig”–in particular, the dance craze started by the dance crew TSU. Seeing others like Kaelynn Harris and Cortland inspired her to do more with the song.

The original track, produced by Snappy Jit, leans more towards EDM but the remix from Thunderbird Juicebox and Mighty Mark is a flurry of bigger bass and colorful synths.

TT is also working on a music video tour for “Dig.” Starting a month ago, she started working with dancers from eight cities to showcase various street style dances derivative from each region. She’s about halfway through the tour. She’s hit Atlanta, LA, Baltimore, and New York. New Jersey, New Orleans, Miami, and her hometown Fort Lauderdale are what’s left. She’s worked with Tommy The Clown and SayQuon Keys so far. You can support her on this tour by purchasing the remix on iTunes and watch what she has so far above.

TT had this to say about the remix to us via email:

“One of the great things about creating dance music is it’s universal appeal. ‘Dig’ is one of those songs that can get anyone out of their seat and dancing. As an independent artist one of my goals is to continue to push creativity and collaboration so I decided to put together a music video tour where I would travel to major cities and create a platform that would highlight various street dance cultures from Baltimore club footwork to Los Angeles krumping. This tour has also enabled me to connect and build with new fans my music on a more personal level than I have ever experienced before!”
